Welcome to the PFI Infoline Website

Important Notice:  January 2010

The Support Group continues to meet on Wednesday mornings.

Prisoners' Families Infoline (PFI) Ireland is a telephone and email service for anyone affected by the imprisonment of a family member, partner or friend.

It is a confidential service.

When someone is sent to prison, their family may feel as if they too, are serving a sentence. In differing ways, each member of the family has to cope with the trauma of arrest, with the tension of waiting for a court case to happen, with coming to terms with the length of a prison sentence, with separation from a loved one. The family will gradually learn about the practicalities of the prison system, or about the best ways to deal with the concerns and questions of children and neighbours.

Prisoners’ Families Infoline was started as a way of supporting family members during this time. You may have a simple question, about visiting hours, or a more complex one, eg,  what do I tell the children?

Our helpline provides a listening ear to help you to discover what is best for you in your situation.
